ABOUT ABOUT

Doors open at 8:30 am for coffee, breakfast, and networking. Program: 9:00 - 10:30 AM.

Philadelphia’s Minority Enterprise Development Week (MED Week) has celebrated minority enterprises in the region and efforts to grow minority businesses since 1984.

The Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia (SBN) is hosting 2 events as part of the more than 40 MED Week events across the city that will help you grow your business.  This event, as with all MED Week events, is framed around learning and networking and is a collaboration with the Independence Business Alliance.

For the past several months, SBN has conducted research on challenges local businesses face in contracting with the City and anchor institutions and developing recommendations for how to make contracting more accessible. SBN has kept a focus on WMDBE firms throughout our process.

For this event, SBN will be presenting our findings from our research, which has included conversations with almost 100 local businesses, including WMDBEs, as well as best procurement practices from across the country. Following the presentation, SBN and the IBA will be engaging attendees in roundtable discussions on which procurement policies they want to see implemented in Philadelphia.

Join us in envisioning what local procurement can and should look like here in Philadelphia!
