Philadelphia Beverage Tax Briefing for Cafes

By Sustainable Business Network of Greater Phila (other events)

Monday, February 6 2017 4:00 PM 5:30 PM EDT

ABOUT ABOUT

On January 1, 2017, the City of Philadelphia imposed a 1.5-cents-per-ounce tax on the distribution of sweetened beverages (such as regular and diet sodas, teas, and others) as well as syrups and concentrates used to make sweetened drinks.

In SBN's policy work, educating the public is a vital aspect to our advocacy efforts. When changes in legislation or policy occur, SBN views it to be mission critical to inform our constituents and to make educational opportunities available to our membership, so that we can effectively rally the local business community.

Philadelphia businesses, specifically businesses in the food and beverage sector, need to prepare for compliance.

On Monday, February 6, from 4:00 - 5:30 PM, SBN is hosting a Briefing. This event is open to SBN members and the public, but this is specifically pertinent for cafe owners, managers, and workers. Early this month, we hosted a breakfast briefing for businesses in the food and beverage industry and felt it necessary to host another briefing specifically focused on cafes and coffeeshop compliance.
